Manufacturing Engineering Technician

SUMMARY
Responsible for technical support of manufactured products in an industrial plant by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Must be a hands on technician specializing in machining, stamping, and sheet metal operations

Responsible for technical support and troubleshooting all manufactured products, tools, gages and processes involved in the manufacture of a quality product. Troubleshoots manufacturing problems with equipment, tooling, fixtures, processes, and the fabrication and assembly of all parts and products. Resolves technical manufacturing problems with production operators and supervisors.

Provides technical assistance and design for manufacturing input for R&D projects and new and improved manufactured products. Responsible for new and existing product design integration and design for manufacturing. Must review designs and blueprints, and coordinate and collaborate with product design teams.

Provides technical assistance to purchasing in liaison with vendors to determine product specifications for purchase of equipment, materials, tooling or gages, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

Responsible for management of tools and dies, including the design, specification, sourcing, maintenance and repair of tooling and press equipment. Designs new jigs and fixtures, machinery, tools and gages.

Programs CNC machinery and equipment. Organizes and maintains storage of programs and data in coordination with engineering print designs and revisions.

Supports the manufacturing managers, supervisors and production employees with all aspects of efficient and safe production operations.

None.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two-year certificate from college or technical school; or two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge with CNC Programming and Tooling
Knowledge of machining fabrication operations
Knowledge of metal stamping operations
Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication operations
Knowledge of CAD (Computer Aided Design) systems
Knowledge of manufacturing technology and standard business practices
Familiar with OSHA Federal & VOSHA State safety regulations
Familiar with ISO9000 Quality system, quality and workmanship manuals

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) provided.
