Design CAD/Draftsman

SUMMARY

The Design CAD/Draftsman will support the organization by ensuring the accuracy of engineering data and, distributing and maintaining drawings, BOMS, manuals, product literature, procedures & ERP data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowledge of fractional US, imperial metric measurement systems
  • Component sourcing and selection.
  • All aspects of electromechanical design using CAD to create 3D-models, and manufacturing drawings.
  • Engineering change notices (ECN’s). Materials (BOM’s) and inventory part numbers. Creation and maintenance of engineering documentation, product manuals, bills of material.
  • Daily manufacturing engineering, and procurement support.
  • Develop Engineering Reports
  • Update and Maintain Product Manuals
  • Assist in the development of Marketing materials including:
    • Customer Logos
    • Product CD's
    • Product Literature
  • Maintain Engineering Procedures
  • Maintain Engineering Drawings
  • Customer Support
  • R&D Support
  • Assist with new Product Development
  • ERP Data Maintenance
  • New Item Additions
  • Overtime may be requested
  • Other duties may be assigned

OTHER NECESSARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Follows all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by Edlund Company and the department.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Operating Systems (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to write technical and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to engineering team and/or employees.
  • Ability to use basic mathematic calculations and arithmetic.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of U.S and international monetary, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read blue prints.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Pursing either an Associates, Bachelors (BS) or Masters (MS) degree in Engineering; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General knowledge of machining and sheet metal fabrication processes are a plus.
  • Knowledge or experience with control systems and integration of pneumatic and hydraulic valves, sensors, switches, relays, timers, motors, actuators and power supplies.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical principles is required and previous electronics training or knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge and/or Experience with the following certifying agencies is highly desirable; CE, UL, CSA, NSF, ISO.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • The employee is occasionally required to walk; stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work with or be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals, as well as risk of electrical shock.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, vision, and color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in and environment with moderate loud noise level conditions.
